Ghanaians must take back control of the country and salvage what is left after years of poor governance and rampant corruption under the New Patriotic Party’s administration.

This is according to Joyce Bawah Mogtari, spokesperson for the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama’s campaign.

In a post via X on Tuesday, July 2, Joyce Bawa called on Ghanaians to reflect on how the country has reached its current dire state and stand up against “a failed government which has literally captured all our assets, money, our freedom and state institutions.”

She said it was unacceptable that despite the country’s battered economy with rising inflation and fuel prices, the government “still have the audacity to call us out for daring to criticize their abysmal performance and corruption.”

“For me, the most absurd thing is their arrogance and inability to take responsibility,” she stressed.

The NDC stalwart slammed the government’s wasteful spending, such as $58 million on the contentious national cathedral project, while “the rest of us wallow in poverty and hardship.”

She urged Ghanaians that “We have a duty to our country not to allow the sacrifice, toils and blood shed by our forebears to give us a proud Ghana, go waste.”

In a call to action, Mogtari said “We must take back our country, salvage what little we have left, and be sure to practice our democracy as the Constitution intended.”
