I support Chairman Johnson Aseidu Nkediah, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in his courageous decision not to sign the peace agreement presented by the Peace Council for the upcoming election.
We cannot forget the brutalities that occurred during the 2020 elections, particularly in the Odododiodio Constituency and Techiman South Constituency. In Odododiodio, violence erupted, resulting in injuries and destruction of property. In Techiman South, security personnel fired shots at unarmed civilians, killing two and injuring several others.
And yet, the Peace Council expects us to sign an “empty” A4 sheet for peace? How can we trust that this agreement will bring about meaningful change when the perpetrators of previous violence have not been held accountable?
Chairman Aseidu Nkediah’s decision is a stand for justice, peace, and true democracy. It is a call to action for all Ghanaians to demand accountability from our leaders, the Electoral Commission and the security agencies to ensure our safety and security during this election.
We will not be silenced by empty promises. We will not be swayed by meaningless agreements. We demand true peace, justice, and accountability.
Let us stand with our Chairman and demand a better Ghana for ourselves and future generations.
