Former President John Mahama has expressed gratitude to God for the many blessings following his his re-election.

The President-elect has acknowledged God’s guidance throughout his campaign and the renewed opportunity to serve again.

In a victory speech at his campaign office on Monday evening, he expressed delight over his emphatic victory, dwelling on Psalm 23:5.

“The results of this election by the Electoral Commission show that NDC with me, John Dramani Mahama as the leader, just chalked one of the most emphatic victories in the history of Ghana.

“Let me begin by thanking God, the creator of the universe for protecting and preserving us through this whole campaign period. I also give thanks to God for preparing a table before me in the presence of my enemies,” he said.

Mr Mahama further thanked Ghanaians for their massive support.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has confirmed Mahama’s victory with 6,328,397 votes representing 56.55%.

The former President defeated his main opponent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 4,657,304 votes representing 41.61%.

Additionally, the NDC has declared victory in over 160 constituencies, making them the Majority in Parliament.
