Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Essikado-Ketan Constituency in the Western Region, has expressed her profound disappointment with what she perceives as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) ongoing disrespect and disregard for women, particularly within her Constituency.
Dr. Ayensu-Danquah’s criticism was primarily aimed at certain individuals within the NPP’s Essikado-Ketan branch, whom she accused of engaging in smear campaigns and employing underhanded tactics to undermine her candidacy.
“I, Grace Ayensu-Danquah, will not be deterred by the baseless accusations made by Sir Charles Obama, an NPP serial caller.
His attempts to tarnish my reputation with claims of disrespect and arrogance will not distract me from my mission to bring progress and development to our Constituency,” she stated.
Emphasizing her deep roots in the community, Dr. Ayensu-Danquah reaffirmed her commitment to advancing the Essikado-Ketan Constituency, drawing a sharp contrast between herself and the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate.
“As a proud royal from Essikado Ahenfie, I am dedicated to bringing our Constituency into the spotlight.
Unlike the NPP’s preferred candidate, I have a proven track record of integrity and dedication,” she asserted.
The humanitarian surgeon also addressed the personal attacks against her, particularly those focused on her education and character.
A graduate of Holy Child Secondary School and Archbishop Porter Girls Secondary School, Dr. Ayensu-Danquah contrasted her unblemished educational and professional record with the alleged misconduct of her opponent, whom she claimed was expelled from Nsein Secondary School for assaulting a teacher.
She also criticized the behaviour of her opponent and his supporters during the NPP primaries, where she claimed the only female contestant was subjected to relentless attacks. According to her, this behaviour is indicative of a broader culture of misogyny within the NPP, particularly in the Essikado-Ketan Constituency.
In contrast, Dr. Ayensu-Danquah highlighted her own record of integrity, stating that she has never been involved in any corrupt activities or misconduct, such as receiving bribes linked to illegal mining (galamsey).
She challenged “Sir Obama,” a social media activist of the ruling NPP, to name a single project her opponent has initiated in the constituency, aside from engaging in what she described as “insulting and bullying women.”
Dr. Ayensu-Danquah reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to serving the people of Essikado-Ketan, with a vision focused on prosperity, sustainable development, and transforming the lives of her constituents.
“My mission is to bring joy and a better life to my people and to prove that a woman can lead with integrity and purpose,” she declared.
She condemned gender-based attacks in the strongest terms, emphasizing her dedication to her constituency and encouraging voters, especially those concerned about the treatment of women in politics, to support her campaign.
