The Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has expressed confidence in retaining her seat in parliament after the 2024 elections.

Speaking to the media after filing her nomination on Tuesday, the Ketu South MP, stated that despite facing numerous challenges during her first term, her continuous support for constituents during those difficult times would earn her re-election on December 7.

She cited the closure of the Aflao border during the Covid-19 pandemic, the recent Akosombo dam spillage floods, and the perennial tidal wave destruction in her constituency as some of the adversities she and her constituents have been confronted with.

“Election is not an event, it’s a process and I have not neglected this constituency since 2019 when I came to my form. I have stayed here with them, I have been true to them, I go to the market with them, I felt their pain and I provided the little that I have in opposition for them and I know that they’re happy with me and my work and the love that I have for my people which they reciprocate is the reason why I will be voted for again,” she said.

The Ketu South MP also accused the government of neglecting and torturing her constituents over the last eight years but praised their resilience. With her nomination filed, Gomashie is set to face the polls with a renewed sense of purpose, determined to continue serving her constituents.

“There is been no time that anything has happened to us that His Excellency has stepped foot here or sent anybody who made a promise and they have fulfilled it and so, we are here, this is where our ancestors gave us and we will stay here no matter what happens,” she added.

She urged constituents to evaluate their state of affairs under the erstwhile Mahama administration against the current economic situation in making the right decision on December 7.

The former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, was accompanied by a huge number of party members and supporters on Tuesday, when she handed over her nomination to the Electoral Commission for the second time as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Ketu South.
