Former President John Mahama recently visited Isshau Yaro, a young man who sustained a life-changing injury during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

During his visit, Mr Mahama highlighted Mr. Isshau’s story as an example of the violence that occurred in the area.

Describing Mr. Isshau as a once energetic and hardworking individual, Mr Mahama mentioned how he had been left invalid and unable to pursue his former livelihood due to the events in Ayawaso West Wuogon.

He called upon President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia to witness Mr. Isshau’s plight and recognize the need for justice and compassion in his case.

Referencing the Commission of Enquiry’s findings on the Ayawaso West Wuogon incident, Mr Mahama underscored the importance of holding those responsible for the violence to account and providing compensation to victims like Isshau.

Despite the recommendations made by the commission, Mr, Isshau has yet to receive the compensation he is entitled to.

Mr Mahama urged the current administration to show empathy towards Mr. Isshau and other victims of the Ayawaso West Wuogon violence by ensuring they receive the support they need to rebuild their lives.

He promised that if given the opportunity to lead again, his government would prioritize Mr. Isshau’s well-being and provide him with the necessary compensation to help him move forward.
