Dr. Richard Fiadomor, President of the Chamber of Local Governance, has sharply criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, labeling it as clueless.

He argues that the NPP has mismanaged the economy, leading to increased hardships for citizens. According to Dr. Fiadomor, the NPP has consistently shown an inability to effectively manage economic issues.

Responding to the allocation of GH¢1.5 billion to compensate those affected by the financial sector clean-up on Ahotor FM‘s morning show, Dr. Fiadomor insisted that investors should not be blamed.

He pointed out that it is unreasonable for the government to fault the investors of the banks that the same government caused to collapse, calling this blame-shifting a clear sign of incompetence.

Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has assured customers of collapsed financial institutions, along with all individuals who lost their investments during the financial sector clean-up, that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, will cover the remaining compensation if he wins the 2024 general elections.

This promise came shortly after Dr. Amin Adam announced that the government has allocated GH¢1.5 billion to be distributed to those affected by the financial sector clean-up, with disbursements scheduled to take place from now until October 2024.

Additionally, Dr. Amin Adam mentioned that the total amount needed for full compensation is GH¢4 billion.
