John Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wougon, has accused the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP Lydia Seyram Alhassan of copying his campaign strategies.
Mr. Dumelo alleged that he had started an initiative of distributing pens to University of Ghana students ahead of their end-of-semester exams.
However, he claimed Lydia Alhassan copied the idea only a few days later.
“I shared pens a few days ago to students on campus. She’s never original in her ideas,” the actor and politician reacted via X on Friday, April 5.
This is not the first time Mr. Dumelo is accusing Lydia Alhassan of copying his ideas.
During the limited voter exercise in 2023, the NDC PC alleged his opponent was duplicating his strategy of visiting registration centres and sharing snacks to voters in the queue.
The two first competed in the 2020 general elections in which the incumbent MP, who had then stepped into the shoes of her late husband defeated John Dumelo.
Meanwhile, with a comeback spirit, the award-winning actor has vowed to wrestle the seat from the NPP in the upcoming elections.
