The Director of Operations of the Progressive People’s Party, Divine Nkrumah, has advised former President John Dramani Mahama to, as part of pledges, promise Ghanaians a special cemetery where all the corrupt officials would be buried after they die.
The young politician expressed worry over what he described as unprecedented levels of corruption under the Nana Addo-led administration.
He was also worried that should the NPP be retained, the country would be plunged into further misery and further looting by officials under this New Patriotic Party (NPP)-led government.
For this reason, he has appealed to Mr. Mahama to add this initiative to his campaign promises, so when he wins, he will construct this cemetary and cause those who steal state funds to be buried there.
This cemetery, he suggested, must also serve as a tourist site where tourists would go and read about these corrupt officials and how they looted the state.
“Former President John Dramani Mahama should assure Ghanaians that he will construct a special cemetery where these evil doers, corrupt officials, and state looters will be buried. There are corrupt officials who would die, but we don’t have to allow their bodies to be treated like any other bodies. Their bodies should be laid to rest in this special cemetery. The cemetery should also be used as a tourist site where tourists can go and read about these corrupt officials and how they looted the state. Generations unborn would also have an opportunity to learn about those who looted and stole from the state.
I have not witnessed this level of criminality, thievery, looting, state capture, or pure wickedness by this government. It is so shocking that these people have created this mess yet have the courage to sit on the radio television and make comments about who founded Ghana. One thing I will appreciate and commend Mahama for is his ability to deal ruthlessly with corrupt officials. Whether these criminals will stay in remand or in prison, my request is for Mahama to construct a cemetery where these corrupt persons would be buried to remind us of their evils,” he said on the Citizen Show on Accra FM.
He made the remarks while contributing to the update provided by the Special Prosecutor on the Airbus Scandal, which identified John Dramani Mahama as Government Official 1 but cleared him of any wrongdoing.
Divine Nkrumah slammed the current government, accusing it of persecuting political opponents.
