Mahama visits Tema Fishing Harbour today

John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress(NDC) flagbearer for the 2024 elections will today pay a visit to the Tema Fishing Harbour to engage with the fisherfolks.

The former President will be accompanied by Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten, the Member of Parliament for Tema East Constituency in the Greater Accra Region to engage with the local marine fishing community in a significant outreach event.

The visit, will take place at the Canoe Landing Beach within the Tema Fishing Harbour and commence at 10 AM.

It aimed to address the concerns of the fishermen and highlight the importance of the fishing industry to Ghana’s economy.

During the engagement, Mr Mahama listened attentively to the challenges faced by the fishermen, including issues related to their livelihoods, access to resources, and the impact of environmental changes on their fishing activities.

He will also reiterate his commitment to supporting the fishing community and outline his plans to enhance the sector if elected as President.

Isaac Ashai Odamtten, MP for Tema East, will also speak at the event, to emphasize the significance of the fishing industry in Tema and the need for continued support and investment to ensure its sustainability.

The visit was part of Mr Mahama’s broader campaign efforts to connect with various communities and stakeholders across the country, demonstrating his dedication to addressing their needs and concerns.

The event is expected to be received by the local community, who will also express their appreciation for the opportunity to voice their issues directly to a key political leader.

The engagement with the fishermen underscored the NDC’s commitment to inclusive governance and the development of vital economic sectors in Ghana.
