Former Ghana’s High Commissioner to India and a member of the NDC 2024 campaign steering committee, Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley has said former President John Mahama lost the 2016 election due to his openness and honesty.

For him, the 2024 flagbearer never compromised on his integrity as an honest leader “John Mahama lost the election due to his naked honesty” he told William Evans-Nkum in an interview.

“For instance, when the country was facing some challenges in the power sector the former president was transparent and honest about it; what do we see today? He queried.

Nonetheless, Mr Yalley maintained, the NDC leader would not deviate from the tenet of accountability and honesty irrespective of the situation, something he believes majority of the electorate would consider and give him the nod, come December

“We remain resolute to standing for the truth and that will continue to be the hallmark of our flagbearer”

On continuing some of the current administration’s flagship policies, the president of the Professional Forum, a pro NDC group also said the next NDC government would streamline the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education by including agriculture “NPP’s STEM schools will not be abolished by the NDC; we will add agriculture to make it STEAM” Ambasador Yalley stated.

However, on the Free Senior High School policy, he said “it was a good policy but badly implemented.”

The National Democratic Congress is eyeing its fifth electoral victory since its formation in 1992.

The party’s flagbearer, John Dramani will be contesting for the third time after losing 2016 and 2020 elections. The last time he won the election as leader of the opposition party was in 2012 as the incumbent president.
