The Minority in Parliament has rescheduled the date for its second protest demanding the removal of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Ernest Addison, and his two deputies.

Originally set for July 30, the protest has now been moved to August 13.

In a letter to the police on Tuesday, July 23, the Minority explained that the change was due to the launch of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) 2024 campaign in Tamale, scheduled for July 27.

The Minority indicated that many of its members would be attending this campaign launch, which would leave them with insufficient time to prepare for the protest.

“Following our discussion and conclusion of the date with your office, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) announced the 27th of July 2024 as the date of the launch of our national campaign in Tamale.”

“Given that this date is so close to our planned demonstration in Accra, the 27th July date has become inconvenient.”

“Pursuant to sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Public Order Act 1994 (Act 491), I hereby write to request for the rescheduling of the demonstration from its original date of Tuesday 30th July, 2024 to Tuesday 13th August, 2024, between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm. The route remains the same,” the letter signed by Dr Casiel Ato Forson stated.
