Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has appealed to Ghanaians to vote out the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) come December 7, 2024.
He noted that those who have planned not to vote in this year’s general elections should rescind their decision and rather join the NDC in bringing about change.
He lamented that Ghana has witnessed unprecedented corruption, excessive borrowing, youth unemployment, mismanagement, and nepotism under this incompetent NPP adminsitration.
Speaking at the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) national campaign, he made a call to Ghanaians to vote for the NDC to ensure stability.
He claimed that the Bank of Ghana is currently bankrupt and insolvent due to the mismanagement of this government.
Dr. Forson stated that a new Mahama government will create better opportunities for the unemployed youth.
He noted that those who have decided not to vote will have a change of mind if they get to know that 11.5 million Ghanaians, representing 33.3% of the population, are thrown into extreme poverty due to the bad governance of the Nana Addo-led administration.
He also claimed that 2 million Ghanaians are facing acute food and nutrition insecurity, as reported by the Ghana Statistical Service and the World Bank, adding that 35% of the population is unemployed. 1.9 million youth are idling without work, training, or skill.
He went on to state that 4.5 Ghanaians have completely given up in the pursuit of jobs due to the first recession, while 50% of doctors have travelled abroad for greener pastures due to the poor governance of the NPP government.
“That statement that I will not be voting because this government has failed, I beg to say that you will have a change of mind if you are aware that this NPP government borrowed and over borrowed and has made Ghana bankrupt and insolvent to the extent that Ben pensioners were forced to accept a crude haircut.
The Bank of Ghana is today bankrupt and policy insolvent, and the Ghana Cocoa Board has actually collapsed, the cocoa sector is actually collapsing, and almost all state enterprises are also collapsing. With this poor score card of Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia, I want to use this opportunity to call out to you fellow countrymen and women that this is a call to duty. You cannot sit on the fence. We owe Ghana a joint effort and communal labour to rescue our dear nation.”
