Ex-PNC General Secretary, Atik Mohammed has slammed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, NPP Running Mate, over his comment that no President in the history of Ghana has outperformed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, addressing a charged crowd of NPP members and supporters while being unveiled publicly on Tuesday, July 9, in Kumasi asserted that President Akufo-Addo is the best ever.
He said; “Since independence from 1957 till today, we’ve not had any president that has helped Ghana like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I say from 1957 till today, you can bring your Kwame Nkrumah…no President has protected Ghana and moved the country forward like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.”
But to Atik, this is a “factually inaccurate statement”.
To him, Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s remark is flawed stressing the fact is Nana Addo’s administration is a “worse administration” as compared to some previous governments.
“Let’s not even extend it to the Nkrumah era; that’s even too far. Let’s take 1992; can you say Akufo-Addo is the best performing President since 1992?”, he questioned and maintained that Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s assertions “cannot be; it’s not true!”
Atik made these submissions on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show.
