The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on party members in the Upper East Region to put aside differences stemming from the recent parliamentary primaries and work together for victory in the December 7 elections.
In the Navrongo Central Constituency, tensions arose following the primaries, leading to divisions between supporters of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Sampson Chiragia, and those of the newly elected Parliamentary Candidate, Simon Aworigo.
Clashes erupted after Chiragia lost his seat in the primaries.
During a three-day visit to the region, Asiedu Nketiah addressed party supporters in Naaga, urging them to move beyond the past and unite in the common goal of winning the upcoming elections.
He emphasized the importance of solidarity and teamwork to ensure the NDC’s success in December.
“My message to Navrongo Central is if we want to eat and survive, let us all eat and survive. If we don’t want to eat and survive and want to kill ourselves, we’ll all die together. After the primaries, the situation was very bad. I came here and intervened. I am happy with the level of cooperation now.
“It is not the individuality but their supporters on the field. The individuals would be working together, but their supporters would say if not Sampson no Simon and Simon’s supporters would say if no Simon, no Sampson.”
