The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Lower Manya Krobo constituency has refuted claims made by Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Chief Executive, Simon Tetteh, that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) established the only Nursing and Midwifery training school in Odumase-Krobo in the Eastern Region.

According to the NDC, the idea for the establishment of the college was conceived by Dr. Joseph Teye Nuertey, who was then the Volta Regional Health Director and a former parliamentary candidate hopeful.

Dr. Nuertey also provided office furniture and equipment to ensure the effective operation of the college.

The NDC pointed out that Dr. Nuertey’s role in establishing the college was acknowledged in a 2015 speech by the overlord of Manya Krobo, Nene Sakitey II, during the Ngmayem festival.

The NDC’s statement emphasized that Nene Sakitey praised Dr. Nuertey for his exemplary leadership.

Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE lower Manya Krobo

Simon Kweku Tetteh, the Municipal Chief Executive and NPP parliamentary candidate hopeful, had claimed that his party established the Nursing and Midwifery training school in various public forums, including radio news bulletins and during his campaign events.

In response, the NDC’s statement, signed by Daniel Teye Anim, the NDC Communication Officer, and Dr. Joseph Teye Nuertey, clarified that Dr. Nuertey’s dedication to the school led him to lobby Mr. Owusu, who donated 65 acres of land for the construction of a permanent campus.

The NDC criticized the MCE’s claims as an attempt to score cheap political points.

The added that, the NDC views these claims as misleading and an effort to misattribute credit for the establishment of the training school.
