The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has requested a televised parliamenatry probe into the conduct of Attorney General and Minister of Justice Godfred Yeboah Dame.
The party is accusing him of judicial manipulation and has therefore underscored the need for him to be investigated.
The National Chairman of the Party, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, speaking on the issue at a press conference on May 28, 2024, said the Minister has misconducted himself and ought to be investigated.
At the press conference, the chairman released a 16-minute tape as evidence to support the claims made by the third accused, Richard Jakpa, in the ambulance case against the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
He explained that the evidence exposes how Godfred Dame allegedly coached Jakpa on the statements to make in court to implicate the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
The NDC says the conduct of the Attorney General is unbecoming of a lawyer and thus must be sacked.
“Clearly, Mr. Dame is not fit to hold himself out as Attorney General and Minister of Justice. He is unfit to be the leader of the Ghana bar,” he stated.
The NDC has also urged that the General Legal Council launch disciplinary proceedings against Godfred Dame, preferably resulting in his disbarment, while parliament investigates the claims and additional reports of judicial manipulation by Godfred Dame.
