The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is set to write to the Electoral Commission (EC) today, Wednesday, September 25 to demand a response to their petition.

During its ‘Enough Is Enough’ demonstration, the party presented a petition to the elections management body.

According to the NDC’s National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi, the party has given ample time to the EC to respond, and since it is taking longer, the party will write to draw their attention.

“We intend to formally write to the Electoral Commission as a follow-up to the petition we gave them. So, we hope to hear something favourable by tomorrow and if we do not hear anything, we are going to move to stage two of our action plan,” he said on Joy FM’s Top Story on September 25.

Sammy Gyamfi explained the next stage would be to organise another demonstration, adding that the form and mode would be different this time.

Meanwhile, he added that the party was considering other alternatives.

On September 17, the NDC issued a one-week ultimatum to the EC to take action on their petition calling for a forensic audit of the provisional voter’s register.

Sammy Gyamfi announced that if the EC does not respond within this period, the party will escalate its efforts with a series of protests aimed at pressuring the Commission to ensure transparency.
