The Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has issued a stern warning to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a “sleeping lion” that should not be provoked.
His comments were in response to recent statements by Agric Minister Bryan Acheampong, who suggested that the NPP would not hand over power to the NDC.
Speaking on Accra FM during the NDC’s Manifesto launch in Winneba on Saturday, August 24, 2024, Mr. Sosu cautioned the NPP to be mindful of their rhetoric.
“The NDC is a sleeping lion, and the NPP should be careful not to awaken the lion in us. Our roots are in revolution, and people should not forget that. The fact that we in the NDC want peace to prevail does not mean they can take our silence for granted,” he said.
Sosu emphasised that NDC members, including the MPs, are prepared to sacrifice for the country’s welfare.
He also warned that every NDC member is ready to defend what he called the “second independence” of Ghana. “The fact that we are being gentle doesn’t mean they can take us for granted,” he added.
The Madina MP asserted that Ghanaians have already decided to vote for John Mahama in the 2024 elections, and the NPP cannot change this outcome.
