National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said that Ghana’s economy under the Akufo-Addo administration has been destroyed.
For the first time, he recounted that pensioners have had to picketed at the Ministry of Finance against the government
Several taxes have also been introduced thereby worsening the plight of Ghanaians.
Speaking during the launch of the NDC manifesto in Winneba on Saturday August 24, he said “the economy collapsed for the past seven years. The government has also introduced a plethora of taxes that are visiting excruciating hardships on our living conditions.
He assured that the NDC’s manifesto contains “clear actionable and concise solutions.”
General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that the NPP took over a strong economy from the NDC but destroyed it.
He recounted that the previous NDC administration left behind an economy with two oil fields and a sound manufacturing sector, among others.
But after destroying these achievements, he said, the NPP has turned around to say they inherited a bad economy.
He said “When you say one village one dam and you know you do not have the capacity that is deception. Our policies are anchored on principles, the principle of respect for the people. We left behind a manufacturing sector that was wrong, two oil fields, a strong cocoa sector.”
The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi for his part, said that the party has an unmatched record.
However, he said Ghanaians have been hoodwinked to believe otherwise.
Speaking during the 2024 manifesto launch of the NDC in Winneba on Saturday, August 24, he said that the current administration has destroyed the country that was bequeathed to them.
“The NDC has unmatched track records,” he stressed.
For his part, the Minority Chief Whip Kwame Agbodza has said that the 2024 manifesto of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will focus on key areas including corruption, and job creation.
To him, the manifesto will focus on how to solve the problems created by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“The manifesto will focus on issues of corruption, state capture, issues of great concern to every Ghanaian, job creation,” he told TV3 in Winneba ahead of the launch of the NDC manifesto on Saturday, August 24.
The NDC is launching its 2024 manifesto today Saturday, August 24 at the “Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Auditorium of the University of Education, Winneba.
The event will have in attendance, the Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama who is the Special Guest of the occasion.
Also in attendance, will be members of the National Executive Committee, members of the Council of Elders, Members of Parliament, Parliamentary Candidates and an array of distinguished guests from the Diplomatic Corps, Clergy, “Nananom”, Civil Society Organizations, Academia, Labour Organizations, Creative Arts, among others, a statement issued by the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi on Monday August 19.
“Various speakers will address the nation on thematic areas of the NDC’s transformational vision for resetting and building the Ghana we want,” the statement said.
