From every indication, after messing up our economy, the government and the NPP are making every effort to destroy the soul of our country and democracy. We have observed with great concern, the outdoor distribution of money and other items to morality-loving Ghanaian voters to solicit their votes in the recent bye election at Kumawu’s constituency. The NPP government also did “Kweku Ananse” with the people of Kumawu by hurriedly dragooning unpaid contractors to sites to stage work in progress of development projects as a hoax to camouflage Kumawu’s voters.
All this deceptions captured on camera and circulated globally, is not only tarnishing the hard won reputation of our country, but exposing our democracy to risk of failure. If this behavior is allowed to fester without unanimous condemnation by Ghanaian, a culture will emerge where MPs will be hurt by desperate citizens to occasion bye elections in order to get stalled projects in their constituency to get attention of government.
Whiles we shame government’s officials at the Ministry of Road and Highways for perpetrating this deception in Kumawu, we call on the contractors, who serve as accomplices of NPP in this unacceptable behavior to desist from it. Those contractors should know that we will soon be exposing them and pushing for sanctions against them for indecent business practice.
We call on parliament to sanction the Minister of Road and Highways for conniving with unpaid contractors to decide Ghanaians.
We also call on Ghana Bar Association, NUGS, the Clergy, National House of Chiefs, and Civil Society Organizations to join us in condemning the NPP for this immoral behavior to save our democracy.
Long live Ghana
Long live the NDC
