The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has targeted to win one of the two parliamentary seats in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
They are the Obuasi East and Obuasi West constituencies.
Currently, the NDC has four seats in the Ashanti Region out of 47.
They are Asawase, Sekyere Afram Plains, New Edubiase and Ejura-Sekyedumase.
Beyond its house-to-house campaign, the parliamentary candidate of the party for Obuasi East Constituency, Samuel Aboagye, is engaging the youth in a number of sporting activities to woo them to his side.
Health walk
Last Sunday, the candidate organised a five-hour health walk through some principal streets of Obuasi as he educated the people on former president John Dramani Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy.
The walk, among others, was to foster unity among the rank and file of the party towards victory in the December 7 polls.
Clad in the party’s colours, the participants danced to brass band music and chanted some popular songs of the party.
Addressing the party faithful after the walk, Mr Aboagye urged them to go out and campaign for the party and its presidential candidate, John Mahama.
He took a swipe at the incumbent New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament, Dr Patrick Boakye-Yiadom, who he claimed had failed to deliver, saying he was the right person to lead the constituency as their MP to bring about the needed development the people have been yearning for in the last seven years.
