The vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has reaffirmed her party’s commitment to establish a state-of-the-art fertility centre when the NDC wins the upcoming December 7 general elections.

Addressing NDC supporters at Camp Junction in the Bia East Constituency on Wednesday, as part of her three-day campaign tour of the Western North Region, she noted that the high cost of treatment of fertility cases poses a challenge to many people desirous of having their children.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang said the fertility centre would provide a low-cost service to families seeking to address fertility issues.

She said the next NDC government would also build a brand new 500-bed children’s hospital.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also mentioned that sanitary pads would also be provided freely to female students across the country to keep girls in school.

“When the NDC was in government, we were providing free sanitary pads for these students but our opponents then politicised it by telling lies to the public. Today the students are not getting it for free again and it is affecting their education”, she said.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang said under the next NDC government, sanitary pads would not be a barrier to the education of any female student in the country.

She therefore urged the electorates to vote massively for John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming December 7 general elections to enable him to reset the country, provide jobs and financially empower women with the planned establishment of the Women’s Development Bank.
