The Member of Parliament for North Tongue, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is alleging that the government is still withdrawing huge sums of money from our national coffers in the name of the All African Games, which ended in March this year.
The lawmaker, in a statement, revealed that a staggering GHS168,386,331.00 has been withdrawn in the last few weeks, although the games were over.
He said that the withdrawals from the national coffers are still ongoing, although the Finance Ministry had already released over GHS 460 million before the closing ceremony.
The amount he added was far in excess of what Parliament approved.
He had therefore demanded immediate answers to the withdrawals.
“The Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government must immediately explain to Ghanaians what these humongous post tournament releases are being used for and exactly when the unending payments will stop.
This haemorrhage cannot continue when many sectors are being starved of resources as economic conditions of Ghanaians deteriorate uncontrollably.”
