The Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called on the Electoral Commission to uphold transparency and fairness in its interactions with all political parties to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

Her remarks came during a courtesy visit to the chiefs and elders of Dadieso in the Suaman Constituency as part of her campaign tour in the Western North Region.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that Ghana is renowned for its peace and stability, underscoring the Electoral Commission’s responsibility to conduct its affairs impartially.

She stressed that fairness in dealing with political parties and stakeholders is essential for maintaining the nation’s peace as the elections approach.

Furthermore, she highlighted the critical role traditional rulers and community leaders play in safeguarding the country’s peace.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang urged these leaders to be vigilant and proactive in addressing any actions by the Electoral Commission that could jeopardise the integrity of the elections and threaten Ghana’s stability.

“We only have one Ghana, and I will urge our traditional leaders to speak against any action of the Electoral Commission that seeks to undermine the credibility of the December 7 General Elections,” she said.
