The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has stressed that the economic challenges currently plaguing Ghana affect all ethnic groups and are not limited to any specific community.

While engaging with residents in Kulgona during his two-day campaign tour of the Northeast Region, he cautioned the people of Nalerigu to be wary of the New Patriotic Party’s enticing yet unrealistic promises as the December 7 elections approach.

In his address, the former president acknowledged the widespread impact of the economic crisis, asserting that no ethnic group is immune to its consequences.

He emphasised that suffering is a shared experience that cuts across all ethnic lines, highlighting that Mamprusis are facing difficulties similar to those experienced by the Ashantis and other groups throughout the country.

Mr Mahama criticised the NPP for what he described as an intention to deceive the electorate with hollow promises.

He urged voters to remain vigilant and not be misled by political rhetoric that fails to address the real issues facing their communities.

By underscoring the collective nature of these economic hardships, Mr Mahama aims to foster unity among Ghanaians, encouraging them to prioritise genuine solutions over superficial campaign pledges.

“Our brothers came with sweet promises, one district, one factory, one village, one dam, one million dollars per constituency per year, and so Ghanaians naturally decided that they would give them an opportunity, which they did. Unfortunately, that opportunity I think has been squandered because today Ghanaians are suffering and the suffering does not know any ethnic groups. Mamprusis are suffering as much as Ashantis.”

“Ashantis are suffering as much as Ewes. Ewes are suffering as much as Fantis. Fantis are suffering as much as Dagaatis,” he stated.
