A uk-based Ghanaian tax consultant, Felix Atabu has donated two tricycle pick-ups worth GH¢50,000 to the Volta Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The items are to support community outreach and other campaign activities of the NDC.

A member of the NDC, Elvis Bemanu presented the tricycles and 200 party T-shirts on behalf of Mr Atabu to the NDC Regional Chairman, Mawutor Agbavitor at a brief ceremony at the secretariat in Ho last Friday.

Gratitude

Mr Agbavitor expressed gratitude to Mr Atabu for the gesture, saying it was worth emulation by not only members of the NDC but also all patriotic Ghanaians who were yearning for a change for the better.

He gave an assurance that the tricycles would be put to good use in the communities.

Mr Agbavitor said the NDC’s support base in the region was very strong, intact and expanding to astonishing heights.

He maintained that victory for the NDC in the forthcoming general election was a foregone conclusion.

He, therefore, urged NDC’s teeming supporters to remain calm, even in the face of provocation by their political opponents.

Political climate

Meanwhile, Mr Agbavitor said the political climate in the region was very calm.

He said plans by the government to deploy military personnel along the border with Togo were irrelevant and rather meant to intimidate voters in the border communities.

“We expect all registered Ghanaians living outside the country to come home and vote during the election without any hindrance or intimidation,” the NDC regional chairman added.

He said the regional secretariat was set to embark on a crusade to further explain the party’s manifesto to the electorate.

The Regional NDC Secretary, James Gunu sought to know why no one was worried about Ghanaians flying from Europe, the USA and other parts of the world to Ghana to exercise their franchise but many were obsessed over Ghanaians walking only a few steps from Togo to their polling stations in Ghana to vote.

“No registered Ghanaian must be denied his or her right to vote in Ghana based on his country of residence,” he said.
