National Democratic Congress (NDC) Amenfi Central parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has admonished voters in the constituency to vote massively for the party in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

The entrepreneur and philanthropist state that the NDC is the only party committed to national development, hence the need for voters to vote for the party to roll out initiatives that will help transform lives.

She made the remarks when she joined the running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the NDC in the constituency.

Madam Cudjoe challenged the voters, specifically members of the party, to join the campaign and convince voters to vote for the party to help reset the economy.

‘’So when you go home, speak to your girlfriends, boyfriends, wives, and husbands so they will vote for the party. Tell them that for the presidential election, the candidate John Dramani Mahama is number 8 on the ballot paper, while I am number 2. With a vote for John Dramani Mahama and myself, we will certainly give the party victory,’’ she said.

The running mate on her part said that the next NDC government will put structures and policies together to ensure that illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, does not destroy river bodies and other water sources like in other countries.

According to her, the NPP administration has supervised the destruction of many water bodies as a result of illegal mining; the NDC will instead modify the trade to ensure that jobs are created for the youth in the hinterland.

‘’To address the issue of illegal mining, our administration will establish stringent policies and frameworks, similar to those in developed countries, ensuring that mining activities do not harm water bodies. We acknowledge the prevalence of galamsey, but our goal is to implement responsible mining practices that prioritise environmental protection and job creation. Regrettably, the current NPP government has failed to effectively combat illegal mining, leading to the destruction of numerous water bodies. Our proposed 24-hour economy policy will create vital employment opportunities, including alternatives to galamsey. Furthermore, we will provide support to business owners to expand their operations and adopt 24-hour systems.’’
