The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed gratitude to its supporters and Ghanaians nationwide following its “Enough is Enough” demonstration, which took place across all 16 regions of the country on Tuesday.

In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC reiterated its commitment to securing a forensic audit of the voters’ register to uphold electoral integrity.

Mr Kwetey noted that the demonstration was not just a protest but a firm declaration by the people of Ghana that transparency and accountability in the electoral process are non-negotiable.

He stated that the current electoral system requires a forensic audit to ensure fairness and that every vote is accurately represented.

“Today’s action was not just a demonstration but a declaration that we, the people of Ghana, will not accept anything less than transparency and accountability in our elections,” the General Secretary said.

The NDC has consistently raised concerns over discrepancies in the voters’ register, demanding that the Electoral Commission (EC) act in accordance with its motto – Transparency, Fairness, and Integrity.

According to the opposition party, only through a forensic audit can the credibility of the electoral process be restored.

“We remain resolute and will press on until our demands are met. The NDC is committed to engaging all stakeholders and pursuing every available avenue to achieve a transparent electoral system,” Mr Kwetey reaffirmed.

While thanking supporters for their massive turnout, Kwetey stressed that the fight for electoral transparency is far from over, stating that the demonstration was only the beginning of a broader campaign to ensure the integrity of future elections.

“The demonstration has ended, but our fight continues,” he declared.

As the NDC continues to push for reforms, it is clear that the party will persist in its efforts to ensure the EC adheres to its core principles.

The opposition’s call for a forensic audit is seen as a key step towards building trust in Ghana’s electoral system, especially ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The NDC has vowed to remain united and mobilise its supporters until their demands are met, urging all Ghanaians to stay engaged and prepared for the journey ahead.
