Most Ghanaians are calling for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to rescue the country from its current predicament, says Beatrice Annan, deputy spokesperson for the NDC election 2024 campaign.

According to her, the current economic challenges have exposed the deliberate attempt by the current government to run down the country for personal gain.

“Ghanaians have received our campaign message because the NPP has failed. I have never seen a political party that has come into power and has deliberately run down the country to the gutters just to enrich themselves,” Beatrice stated in an interview with Nana Kwadwo Jantuah on Nhyira Fm’s Kroyimu Nsem.

She intimated that the economy under the John Mahama administration was not perfect, but was far better than the Nana Addo-Bawumia government.

She believes the unfavourable exchange rate, high cost of living, ballooning debt stock and the unbearable hardships in the country make NDC the best choice for Ghanaians.

“I won’t say things were perfect under John Mahama but the exchange rate was better. There was no haircut and our country’s debt stock was far lower than that of Nana Addo’s government. Togo is a small country but performs better than Ghana in terms of their economy and many aspects of a country’s growth,” she said.

Beatrice Annan charged Ghanaians to compare the achievements of John Mahama and that of Nana Addo-Bawumia government based on the amount of revenue they all received in office.

This, she says, will assure them that Mahama is the best option.

“John Mahama left the country’s debt stock at 120Billion Ghana Cedis with Kejetia Market, Bekwai Hospital, Circle interchange, Ridge Hospital and many more achievements. However, Nana Addo’s government with over 700Billion debt stock has nothing to show but high cost of living, depreciation of the cedi, high fuel prices among others. Ghanaians can compare and realize that NDC is the best manager of our economy,” she stated.

Responding to critics of the policies of 24-Hour Economy and tuition-free for first year university students, Beatrice believes it is the best policy to transform Ghana as far as education and employment issues are concerned.

She said the 24-Hour economy will provide industries with special electricity meters that will allow them to work at night and pay the same amount as that of day time.

“This will enable these businesses to employ more workers to reduce unemployment,” she noted.

With the public sector, she believes the three-shift system will extend the working hours of agencies such as the Passport Office, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority and the banks.

Touching on the free-tuition for first year university students, she said the NDC will set priorities right and reduce wastage.

“We did a cost analysis for the free university for first years which is around 270 to 290 million Ghana cedis. The monies wasted on National Cathedral, tax exemptions offered to friends and cronies of this government can be used to fund the free university and the 24 Hour Economy,” stated Beatrice Annan.
