The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has advised electorates in the Guan Constituency to vote against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for denying them a representative in parliament for 4 years.

According to him, voting against the governing party votes would prevent political parties from taking them for granted in the future and inform them to allocate what the area duly deserves.

Mr. Nketia said this during his campaign tour of the Guan Constituency of the Oti Region.

“Let us fight them back, at least to demonstrate that you can’t treat a group of people in a country, take their votes away with just a letter written by one person. And that for four that group cannot be in parliament.

“Don’t let us say that ‘oh as for SALL, without my vote NDC will win’, no. We need every vote, and the vote must be cast in anger. Not just for NDC but against NPP. The purpose of the vote should be against NPP to demonstrate that you have a serious revulsion about the treatment that has been meted out to you”, he said.

He hinted that certain elements are still working to derail efforts to ensure the rights of the people of the Guan Constituency are trampled upon by ensuring they are represented in parliament.

“Even with this one, the struggle to make sure that this constituency elects an MP, it doesn’t even end there, it is still ongoing. People are still contemplating whether they should allow you to have your own MP. And they are citing technicalities”, he said.

He warned against skirt and blouse voting in an instance where electorates are being encouraged to vote for the NPP parliamentary candidate and John Mahama, the NDC’s presidential candidate.

Mr. Asiedu assured that the area would be given a fair distribution of development projects when the NDC comes to power detailing that the Likpe area is the home of the NDC.

The Guan NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Fred Agbenyo reminded electorates of his vision of development for the area and appealed for peaceful elections.

“Let us unite for the development of the constituency. All I wish for is a peaceful election. There should be no bloodshed”, he said.

The Ninfahene of the Likpe Traditional Area, Nana Bulley Osai VII identified Mr. Nketia’s visit as as a renewed “covenant with the Likpe Area” hoping the general elections on December 7th would mark the end of the era of the SALL area being an orphan.

He outlined bad road networks, lack of befitting health facilities, and educational infrastructure deficit as some of the challenges in the constituency the next NDC government should be concerned with.

A Sub Chief of Likpe Bakua, Nana Agble Akototse III assured of their unflinching support for the NDC adding that “this area is predominantly NDC”.

The NDC hopes to win all 9 seats in the Oti Region in the upcoming December 7th general elections.
