Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has challenged the Electoral Commission’s decision to bar political party agents from observing the ongoing vote transfer exercise.
The Electoral Commission, through its Deputy Chairman of Operations, Samuel Tettey, has placed an embargo on agents of political parties designated to be present at the district offices taking effect from Monday, June 3.
This decision comes in the wake of a stabbing incident involving the son of the Minister of Fisheries, Mavis Hawa Koomson, who is currently in the hospital receiving medical treatment.
“The commission’s attention has been drawn to the violent clashes occurring at some of the District offices as a result of the Transfer of votes exercise. Regional directors are to inform District Officers not to allow Agents of Political Parties to observe the Transfer of votes Exercise with effect from Monday, 3rd June, 2024,” the electoral management body directed all Regional Directors to take note.
Mr. Pratt, discussing the matter on Peace FM’s flagship programme “Kokrokoo”, kicked against this decision stressing it is a recipe for disaster.
“This is a disaster, complete disaster,” he said briefly.
