Chartered Economist Bernard Oduro Takyi has urged Ghanaians to be vigilant against politicians who create chaos and secretly benefit from it.

Mr Takyi emphasized that this class of leaders have an insatiable desire to manufacture crises for personal gain.

Speaking on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ghana Yensom morning show, hosted by Otafrigya Kayire Kwesi Apea-Apreku on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, Takyi noted that while well-meaning individuals genuinely lament the repercussions of systemic messes, certain politicians smile because they stand to profit.

He cited the Bank of Ghana’s 2022 audited financial statements, which reported a total loss of GHS 60 billion and has since been politicized.

Mr Takyi revealed that some politicians have significantly benefited from the Bank of Ghana’s losses in 2023. He claimed that 50 percent of the BoG’s loss ended up in the pockets of these opportunistic politicians.

Mr Takyi also highlighted how government-issued treasury bills are draining money from the system, further enriching those who thrive on creating disorder. He described these politicians as profiteers who exploit crises, adversely affecting the livelihoods of ordinary citizens while in power.
