Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, has reacted to claims by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia that he was only joking when he said churches ought to be incentivised.

The lawmaker said this was not the time for us to vote for a joker as president, considering the challenges confronting the country.

Vice President Dr. Bawumia has clarified that he was joking when he stated that his administration plans to incentivize churches to undertake more developmental projects rather than imposing taxes on them.

The presidential candidate of the NPP said his statement was taken out of context.

He indicated his statement was made within the context that the church and other faith-based institutions have done a lot for the country, including the building of schools, hospitals, and other essential facilities, and deserve to be helped to do more.

However, Dr. Apaak responded that we cannot consider a comical liar as president.

He argued that with the serious challenges confronting the country and the hardship Ghanaians were experiencing, we needed a serious leader with the needed competence to manage the country.

He said we need a visionary, sincere, and honest leader in the person of former President John Dramani Mahama as our next president.

He touted him as the only individual who has what it takes to deal with the challenges confronting Ghanaians.

He said this in a tweet on X formerly Twitter.

“Now is no time to consider a comical lair. A joker at this time, certainly not. With the serious challenges that we are confronted with as a nation, we need a serious, focused, visionary, sincere, and honest leader. This leader is John Dramani Mahama, who is the man to deal with our challenges, not a joker.”
